Mr maupin, I have a true story about a baby nobody wanted in his own birthfamily because he was terminal...his life story is on youtube (in memory of isaiah wilson)....i am the adoptive mother of this precious angel....he was given 12 hours 2 live when i got him he lived 16 months and 26 days....

Thank you so much for this post and for your work (which we just discovered this week when my wife brought home "More Tales of the City" through her Netflix cue. We had never heard of this before but have fallen in love with the characters. We are originally from the Bay Area. I am Chinese-American and ate many meals at Sam Wo with my parents, with Edsel waiting on us. I was shocked and saddened to hear of Sam Wo's closing, and it brought back many memories for me. My dad and I would pick up "Yaow Jaow Gwai" (the deep fried long strips of dough) from Sam Wo to bring home and eat with my mom's "Jook," which was the same dish of rice porridige that Sam Wo served. My wife and I have lived in Chicago since 1979 and often think about retiring back in San Francisco. Thank you for bringing so much of the feeling and vitality of that great city into your work for all of us to enjoy ... and to remember. --G

It's march 2012. I just finished "Tales", "More Tales" & "Further Tales". I see several other titles but no Tales 4 "Babycakes" available on Kindle. I really don't want to order that one as a physical book & skip it on the Kindle. Anyone know if and when "Babycakes" will be available on Kindle?

Ooh! I'm so happy to know this so that i can tell all my friends. I was first introduced to your Tales series back in 1991 and immediately fell in love with the characters and the place. Your books are what inspired ME to write because your characters are so vividly wonderful. It felt as though they were sitting right next to me, telling me their story.

I don't write in the same genre as you, but I'm now published with Harlequin Luna and it's in part thanks to you and your Tales of the City. Big hugs to you! :) You're one of my literary heroes. Mwah!
